On June 22 – 23, 2024, at Vietnam Sky Expo International Exhibition & Convention Center (Ho Chi Minh City), Isuzu Vietnam Company Limited (Isuzu Vietnam) successfully organized the National Isuzu Skill Contest 2024 with the theme “TAKUMI – Isuzu Masters”. In particular, this year’s event marks the 20th anniversary of the traditional contest being held, thereby reaffirming Isuzu Vietnam’s commitment to continuously improving the quality of after-sales service and enhancing customer satisfaction. 

With the theme “TAKUMI – Isuzu Masters”, the National Isuzu Skill Contest 2024 gathered 84 contestants from After-sales service workforce of 21 Isuzu Vietnam Dealers nationwide. Celebrating the 20th anniversary, besides the Board of Directors of Isuzu Vietnam and Dealers, the contest welcomed the representatives of Isuzu Motors Limited, Isuzu Partners including Shell Vietnam, Bridgestone Vietnam, JX Nippon Oil & Energy Vietnam, Tan Phat Sai Gon Equipment and Customers who are using Isuzu vehicles including Nippon Express, Giao Hang Tiet Kiem, Sagawa, Minh Phuong Logistics, J&T. 

Within the framework of 2 days of competition, contestants competed in the following contents: 

• Theory test: assessed contestants’ knowledge through the questions about Isuzu products and technology, diagnosing vehicle conditions, knowledge of after-sales service and spare parts, etc. 
• Practice test on vehicle: Team test for Technicians, Service Advisors, and Spare Parts Advisors conducted directly on the Isuzu vehicles to evaluate the ability to diagnostic, repair, and communicate with customers, which was the same as the actual maintenance procedures according to Isuzu standards. 
• Consulting test: assessed the Service Advisor’s communication skills, knowledge and practice of standard service procedures.

The content of the contest is designed to closely follow the actual work and needs of customers, not only to help contestants improve their knowledge and skills, but also to find the most outstanding technicians to represent Vietnam at the Isuzu World Technical Competition (I1-GP) takes place in October. 

In the opening ceremony, Mr. Wataru Nakano – General Director of Isuzu Vietnam shared: “The National Isuzu Skill Contest 2024 marks two decades of our commitment to enhancing the quality of our aftersales service and celebrating excellence. Strengthening aftersales performance is our top priority. Skilled technicians, service advisors, and parts advisors are essential in achieving this goal”. He also affirmed that the contest not only helped improve knowledge and abilities but also supported the company’s sustainable development goals. “By keeping vehicles in good operation, we help lower emissions and reduce waste, aligning with our environmental aims”.

Therefore, along with the annual skill contest, Isuzu Vietnam will continue to organize training programs to improve the qualifications and skills of the staff at the Dealers, providing high services quality for all customers who trust Isuzu products.

Takumi technicians are trained to become experts in automotive components’ assembly, repair, and quality inspection. They must be able to work with precision and sophistication, ensuring that each inspected and repaired vehicle meets the highest standards of quality.”
